This database contains over 316,000 records providing data on Polish citizens repressed between 1939 and 1956 in the Soviet Union. It involves biographical profiles based on reliable sources, such as personal questionnaires, testimonies obtained through the services of the human rights organisation "Memorial" from archives in Russia, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, and Ukraine, materials xerocopied in 1990s in Russia by the Military Archival Commission, documents originating from National Information and Tracing Office of the Polish Red Cross, the Siberian Exiles Association, and more others. A collection of 3,000 photographs illustrating the fate of the repressed persons is also available.
The database is useful, among others, for victims seeking to document the repressive actions they suffered, people looking for information about missing relatives, as well as scholars studying issues related to World War II. It can be searched according to the names of the repressed persons, their stories, and types of repression.
