Monumenta Germaniae Historica [BREPOLiS]
Monumenta Germaniae Historica is a collection of primary historical sources, including statutes, legal texts, letters, political texts, and medieval literature. Founded in 1819 by the Gesellschaft für Deutschlands ältere Geschichtskunde, it is one of the most prestigious efforts to publish texts related to the medieval history of Germany. Far from being a relic of the past, now also in the form of the online database, it allows today's audience to gain an insight into the sphere of culture and religion in the medieval era. The database, which contains more than 1450 texts, is divided into six sections: Scriptores, Leges, Diplomata, Epistolae, Antiquitates, and Varia. Most of the sources relate to the Roman Empire renewed in the Middle Ages.
The database allows searching by period, author, title, century, or the name of the wider collection from which the document comes. It is also possible to search simultaneously with the Library of Latin Texts, the Aristoteles Latinus Database, and the Archive of Celtic-Latin Literature.
Bibliografia Historii Polskiej
Bibliografia Historii Polskiej
The Bibliography of Polish History covers monographs, ego-documents, memoirs, articles, and other smaller publications relating to the history of Poland within its historical boundaries, as well as provides an overview of writings on the history of the Polish diaspora. The electronic version of the bibliography has been appropriately modified to facilitate access via a different medium, adapted to the reality of the Internet. It allows to trace historical issues both on a national and regional scale (private homelands), trends in the development of knowledge from the perspective of social and event history, currents in community life, and individual biographies.
Searching the database includes the main fields: name of publication, author, and annotation. It is also possible to search by journal title, series, and other indexes. A thesaurus is available as well. The online version currently allows browsing volumes from 1980 to 2016.
Any questions on obtaining information from the historical databases should be directed to the following e-mail addresses: bartlomiej.gapinski@uj.edu.pl, oinka@uj.edu.pl or by phone: 12 663-34-44, Mr. Bartłomiej Gapiński.
