The conference “Archives of the Future. The Role of the Philologist in the Era of Digital Technology”

The international interdisciplinary Conference is the fruit of the work of the flagship project team “European Heritage in the Jagiellonian Library: Digital Authoring of the Berlin Collections (DiHeLib)”, and leading international scholars in the humanities have been invited to present the results of their research connected with utilizing archive resources.

The conference themes encompass research conducted in the fields of philology, archival science, history, and library science using modern digital technologies, commonly referred to as the “digital humanities”.

This not only applies to the philological development of the archival text material itself and describing it in order to more fully understand its meaning in culture and history, but also to methods of recording and cataloguing it, combining it with other documents in various databases, and making it available to future readers via the Internet.

Organizing Committee:

  • Professor Jadwiga Miszalska (Coordinator of the archival and philological platform )
  • Dr hab. Iwona Piechnik, prof UJ (member of the archival and philological platform)
  • Dr hab. Jadwiga Kita-Huber, prof. UJ (Head of the DiHeLib project)
  • Dr Monika Jaglarz (Jagiellonian Library)

On the first day there will be an interpretation service in Polish, English and Italian.
