Opening hours of the Jagiellonian Library

The patrons without Ph.D. should present a recommendation letter from their supervisor or issued by their home research institution in order to use the manuscripts and musical collections. Each patron is asked to fill a relevant declaration form when using the reading room for the first time.

Collections available

  • Items from the reference collection (marked in the online catalogue as ‘Oddz. Rękop.’ for manuscripts or ‘Oddz. Muz.’ for musical collections respectively)
  • Requested from the relevant stock rooms:
    • Manuscripts and typescripts
    • Manuscripts from the former Prussian State Library in Berlin
    • Musical items (handwritten and printed scores)
    • Books and periodicals  published in 19th–21st c. (except for the IV and V formats) to assist patrons in  their research work with items from the special collections

Catalogues

  • Complete catalogue of manuscript held in the Jagiellonian Library
  • Card catalogue of manuscript acquisitions from 1945 to 2000
  • Card catalogue of the diplomas in the Jagiellonian Library colllections
  • Digital catalogue of manuscript acquisitions from 1945 to 1985 and 1999 to 2022
  • Alphabetical and subject card catalogues of the reference collection
  • Card catalogue of musical scores

All requests placed before 2.30 pm are fulfilled in the normal course. The items requested after 2.30 pm are provided to the reading room the next day. No requests are fulfilled on Saturdays.
