Opening Hours and Rules of accessing the Jagiellonian Library's collections during Covid-19 pandemic

Opening Hours from 16 to 24 April

Due to the Government Regulations the Jagiellonian Library will operate from 16 to 24 April as follows:

- the Reading Rooms and Card Catalogues at the Jagiellonian Library will be closed. In exceptional situations, after prior contact by e-mail, it will be possible to access the special collections reading rooms.

Concurrently we would like to inform you that at the Reprographic Point it is possible to order scans from the Jagiellonian Library collections for a fee.

NOTE: The orders for special collections and works from reference collections of music, graphics and cartographic collections, documents of every day life and rare publications should be submitted by 3.00 p.m. The orders placed after 3.00 p.m. will be available for pick up on the next day. No order fullfillment on Saturdays.

Current rules of accessing the Jagiellonian Library's collections:

  • Everyone is required to measure the temperature and disinfect hands on entering the Library’s premises.
  • While moving around the Library, the readers are obliged to wear a mask, also after taking a seat in the reading room.
  • It is necessary to leave the reading rooms during disinfection.
  • In the reading rooms readers should take the seats indicated by the librarians on duty, keeping a safe distance from the other people present. 
  • Everyone wanting to use audiovisual materials is asked to bring his/her own headphones. 
  • It is obligatory to disinfect one’s hands before using computers or microfilm/microfiche readers available in the reading rooms.
  • The computers and information terminals in the lobby and corridors remain inaccessible to the readers.
  • The photocopying stand located in the Main Reading Room will be open during its opening hours.
  • The following limits for the reading rooms are now in effect: Main Reading Room - 40 persons, Research Reading Room - 7 persons, Manuscripts Reading Room - 6 persons, Early Printed Books Reading Room - 5 persons.
  • For 10 calendar days after the due date indicated in the personal reader account the fee for overdue books will not be charged. 
  • The books on loan can be returned directly at the Circulation Desk or sent back by post at the reader’s expense to the address of the Jagiellonian Library (Mickiewicza Av. 22, 30-059 Krakow) with the annotation “Wypożyczalnia Miejscowa” / “Circulation Desk”. The date of actual delivery to the Library, not the date of dispatch, will be assumed as a date of returning. 
  • By way of exception until further notice any book published in Poland after 1950 can be loaned.
  • All the books returned to the Library are duly quarantined.
  • The ordered reprographic materials can be picked up in the Old Building of the Library, room no. 6, from Monday to Friday, 8.00am - 2.30pm, after prior telephone contact: 12 663 3558.
  • The current mode of operation of other libraries belonging to the Jagiellonian University Library System is decided by respective faculties and institutes.
  • Due to sanitary recommendations, the readers are kindly asked to limit the time of using the Library’s reading rooms to the necessary minimum, exclusively for scholarly purposes.
