Enchanting Memories – <br />an Exhibition in the Jagiellonian Library

The exhibition Enchanting Memories. Publications and memorabilia related to the 600th Jubilee of the Jagiellonian University in Kraków in 1964 presents objects coming from the collection of the Jagiellonian Library, the JU Archives and Dr inż. Jerzy Duda.

Festive celebrations of the University's foundation and revival were first conducted as late as 18th century. Since then, the University's community consistently celebrated important anniversaries.

This year, the University celebrates its 650th Jubilee. Because of this, the Jagiellonian Library and the "Cracoviana" Polish Philatelists Club have organised an exhibition to commemorate the Jubilee from 1964.

The exhibition presents objects that can be described as ephemera and comprise: invitations, pamphlets, folders, bills and posters, event programmes, stamps, postmarks, envelopes, stamp albums, passes, identity cards, press clippings, announcements, photographs, tickets, collector coins, matchboxes, stationeries and writing pads, postcards and other memorabilia.

Reminiscing the diversity and grandeur of the last Jubilee may prove to be an interesting experience for today's celebrators.

The vernissage of the exhibition will be held on 28 January 2014. The exhibition will be open to visitors in the opening hours of the Jagiellonian Library.
