Olga Tokarczuk awarded Jagiellonian University honoris causa doctorate

On Thursday, October 7th, 2021, a formal meeting of the Senate of the Jagiellonian University will be held in the Assembly Hall of Collegium Novum, during which the Polish Nobel Prize winner Olga Tokarczuk is to receive an honorary doctorate.

This highest honorary university degree was conferred on Mrs. Tokarczuk by the resolution of the Senate of the Jagiellonian University from April 28th, 2021. She has been honoured in particular for:
 

  • her literary works rendering human experience in its entirety, expressing the truth on man in a revealing manner, allowing the reader to discover order and sense,
  • her cultural, social, civic, and ecological activities, promoting the ideas of equality, freedom and democracy in Poland and abroad, as well as the sense of responsibility for the natural environment,
  • the broad range of teaching activities.
